More than 100 local individuals representing 45 local nonprofit organizations contributed to Kootenay Co-op Radio’s Amplifying the Voices of Our Community radio documentary project. We are happy to announce that the project is now complete and it is time to celebrate!

We hope you will be able to join us for two public project launch parties to be held in Nelson and Kaslo.

The Nelson launch happens at Touchstones Museum of Art and History at 502 Vernon Street in Nelson on Thursday, May 3rd from 5 – 7pm. We will be interviewing some of the people involved in making the project happen as well as enjoying some food and drink. Tekoa Predika and Michelle Rainey from Rainika PhotoGraphik will also be on hand if you’d like to have a tintype photograph taken, and there will be listening stations set up so you can hear the 20 finished documentaries. This is a free public celebration, and you are also welcome to bring your friends, colleagues, and family.

The Kaslo launch will take place the following week at the Langham Cultural Centre, 447 A Avenue in Kaslo on Tuesday, May 8th from 5-7pm.

These documentaries, which were funded through a grant from the Community Radio Fund of Canada, will eventually be played on Kootenay Co-op Radio, podcast on our website, and distributed to local libraries, archives, and institutions. Our launch party is an opportunity to have a sneak peek and meet Kootenay Co-op Radio staff, volunteers and other project participants who have made this project a success.
