WestJet Link to the Kootenay Rockies!
Using Pacific Coastal Airlines’ aircraft painted in WestJet colours, WestJet Link will connect the community of Cranbrook to WestJet’s rapidly expanding network hub at the YYC Calgary International Airport.
“This is a game-changing event, not just for our residents, but also opening up our region to WestJet’s long-haul travellers, which includes the UK.”
Mike Smith, Chair of Kootenay Rockies Tourism Association
All WestJet Link flights will be operated by Pacific Coastal using its fleet of 34-seat Saab 340B aircraft. Flights from Cranbrook begin March 7, 2018, and will fly 3 times daily (with reduced frequency on weekends and some holidays). Book by December 4, 2017, for travel between March 7 and June 27, 2018, for special introductory fares. WestJet.com/Flight-schedules-new
“Kootenay Rockies Tourism is extremely pleased with the announcement of the new WestJet Link service into the Canadian Rockies International Airport from Calgary. Not only will this additional service serve residents and business travellers well, but visitors to our region now have a new viable option to get into this region from the Calgary gateway. The new service is extremely welcome and exciting as we build up business for 2018 after the losses of 2017 due to the wildfires. We commend Tristen and his team for their efforts to secure this new service and we look forward to working in partnership with the airport to get the word out.”
Kathy Cooper, CEO Kootenay Rockies Tourism
“Today’s announcement represents a milestone that we’ve been striving towards for years. This partnership between two great companies, WestJet and Pacific Coastal Airlines, is a best-case scenario allowing for the right-size aircraft, providing high frequency and timely connections to Calgary and WestJet’s international network. In addition, we are pleased to announce we will reduce our Airport Improvement Fee in Cranbrook to four dollars for all flights booked on or after December 1, 2017, for travel on or after March 7, 2018. Welcome WestJet, you will soon see just how delighted we are to have you operating in the Kootenays.”
