Nelson, BC: RDCK Recycling depot users in the West and Central subregions may experience ongoing service disruptions due to a fire on June 22nd that destroyed the GFL Environmental recycling facility in Trail. Recycling from RDCK depots was previously brought to the facility for processing by GFL Environmental under contract to Recycle BC. The Trail operations have been relocated to several other facilities across the province and service times have increased as a result. Supplies required for depot operation were also lost in the fire and replacements have been difficult to obtain.

Service interruptions may include depot closures or a limited range of acceptable materials depending on each facility’s capacity.  The RDCK is working closely with GFL Environmental to service the depots and return to full capacity as soon as possible.  Residents are asked to take their recyclables home and not leave them behind when the facility is closed.

Please check www.rdck.ca for updates on site specific disruptions.
