BC NDP MLA Brittny Anderson says Crawford Bay will benefit from clean energy upgrades to Community Hall
CRAWFORD BAY – BC NDP MLA Brittny Anderson says that people in Crawford Bay will benefit from funding that will help mitigate climate change and strengthen the community’s resilience.
“While a small minority in our province continue to question the urgency of climate action, I’m proud that Kootenay communities – big and small – are taking important steps forward,” said Brittny Anderson, MLA for Nelson-Creston. “By supporting a retrofit of the community hall, our government is helping to work towards a cleaner, more climate-friendly future for Crawford Bay.”
The Crawford Bay Hall Deep Energy Retrofit is benefiting from $543,271 in funding from the provincial government, in addition to $869,233 from the Government of Canada. The project will upgrade the community hall’s building envelope, lighting, and entryway, and enhance heat recovery and demand-control ventilation.
Across the province, communities will benefit from more energy-efficient buildings, improved clean energy production, and better access to clean energy transportation as part of a joint investment of more than $114 million from the federal and provincial governments and local partners.
Since 2017, the BC NDP government has taken action to address the climate crisis and create innovative opportunities for local communities. Unlike others who continue to deny the impact that climate change is having on communities, by investing in clean energy projects, our government is working to build a more climate-friendly and affordable future for British Columbians.
