Baba Brinkman, originally from the East Shore and a graduate of CBESS, is coming to Nelson tonight with his show – “Rap Guide to Religion.” This is his latest off-Broadway hip-hop theatre show and it’s for performance only.

More about the show:

Kootenay boy turned international hip-hop playwright Baba Brinkman brings his latest critically-acclaimed performance to the Civic Theatre for one night only. What are the evolutionary origins of faith? Can science and religion be brought into alignment? And why are both God and Darwin so obsessed with baby making? Nominated for a 2015 Drama Desk Award during its extended off-Broadway run in New York, Rap Guide to Religion is part rap concert, part comedy, and part TED Talk, exploring the science of the sacred with wit and irreverence.
“Very funny and very educational” New York Times (Critics’ Pick)
“A smart and entertaining survey of what gives us faith” Time Out New York (Critics’ Pick)
“A memorable theatre experience… a very talented and dynamic artist” Theatre Is Easy
“Devilishly insightful and dazzlingly witty… a must see” Edinburgh Reporte

Apparently the show is 90 minutes long and begins at 7pm, so East Shore residents can make the 9:40 ferry home!
